What sets The Kinloch Hotel apart is the welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service. This is thanks to the Crawford family, who have owned and operated the hotel since 1954, and who insist upon that personal touch.
When Lawrence Crawford first arrived on Arran with his mother, they leased and ran a guest house on the western side of the island. After two years they purchased the property and so began the story of The Kinloch Hotel. Lawrence’s brother joined the business in the 1960s and it is now Lawrence’s son, Robbie, and his wife, Barbara, who pour their heart and soul into making it the exceptional hotel that it is.
Many changes have taken place over the years, not least the addition of a heated indoor swimming pool, open exclusively to guests. Now the hotel also boasts a sauna, squash court, snooker table and table tennis table.
The hotel has 30 bedrooms, most of which have stunning sea views. There are also seven beautifully refurbished self-catering apartments, five with two bedrooms, and two with one bedroom. All seven apartments benefit from those amazing sea views – perfect for a spectacular Ayrshire sunset.
In addition to receiving a true island welcome, guests can also enjoy freshly prepared, local fare in the hotel restaurant, not forgetting the extensive selection of whiskies, wines and gins in either the lounge or the public bar. The hotel’s own cask ale, Uisge Dubh, specially brewed by Kelburn Brewery, is a firm favourite among the great selection of beers and lagers.
Lunch is available from 12 until 2pm and on fine days, why not dine al fresco in the hotel’s beer garden where fine views are served as standard? Or, indulge in tea or coffee with a cake or scone, served from 11am until 3.30pm.
The Kinloch Hotel truly is the place to escape to on the Isle of Arran and is ideally situated for lovers of nature, wildlife, golf, walking or any other outdoor activities. Or, if you simply want to switch off and relax, there truly is nowhere better.
