Aurora Interiors

Step inside Aurora Interiors in Mauchline and you’ll not only be greeted with a warm Ayrshire welcome, you’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to home accessories and gifts.

Originally opened in 2021 in Loudoun Street, owners Lynn Donis and Alice Reid moved the business to bigger premises in the town’s Earl Grey Street in July 2023, and it has since become a much-loved part of the community, renowned for its friendly service.

“We’re going back to the way things used to be,” says Lynn. “Our customers (and us) prefer to see the products in reality to check quality, size and colour etc. We thought this area was lacking somewhere to purchase fancy goods and we wanted to keep things local rather than people having to travel further afield. Our aim is to provide our customers with a personal service and gifts for all occasions.”

Aurora’s product range includes artwork, mirrors, lamps, candles, cushions, throws, vases, faux flowers, tables and consoles, as well as greeting cards and gift ideas.

“We don’t keep a lot of stock, it’s not like the big stores,” Alice confirms. “We don’t have 10 or 20 of the same items, we just have two or three and we receive new stock deliveries on a regular basis. We aim to stock different items that are more unique to give choice and make it more personal.”

It’s the perfect place for a unique gift or an exquisite statement piece for your home, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised not just by the wide choice, but also by the competitive prices.

“Our goal is to try and keep our prices as reasonable as possible,” says Alice.

Alice and Lynn are also happy to source any items that customers may have seen and can describe, for example, lights, console tables and much more, or to order cushions in different sizes or colours. So the products available are not only restricted to what you can see in the shop.

It’s all part of the personal service that Aurora aims to maintain. And, while you’re browsing the beautiful selection of goods on display, you can enjoy a wee blether. “Boy, do we like a blether!”

“People like the personal touch,” adds Lynn. “They comment on how friendly and welcoming we are, and they prefer this to shopping online.”

As a local, family business, Aurora has many advantages over online shopping. For example, Alice and Lynn are happy to put items aside in exchange for a small deposit. Loyalty cards and gift cards are also available and customers can enjoy seasonal promotions, 20% off Berger Oil lamps, for example. And, after five purchases from the Maison Berger collection, you will receive a free oil up to £18 in value.

The local community also benefits from Aurora Interiors in the form of sponsorship for the local children’s football team, and raffle prizes for charity fundraising campaigns etc.

Lynn and Alice would be delighted to welcome you to Aurora, and they have this message for their customers:

“Thank you all for your loyal support. We know it’s tough for people, but we appreciate your custom in these difficult times.”

Aurora is open Monday to Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturday 10am – 2pm (closed Sunday). Find them on Facebook (Aurora Interiors).
