Dundonald House

Dundonald House has been owned and managed by the same family for three generations. Anne Kerr and Ruth Murdoch have owned and managed Dundonald House for over 30 years and Adam Hughes, Anne’s son, joined the team in 2020. Both Anne and Adam are registered nurses and Ruth’s background in business management and administration is supported by Stephen Maxwell, our administrator.

Dundonald House is regarded as a leading provider of Dementia care and support within care homes in Ayrshire, providing small group living for no more than 8/10 residents within their own lounge, dining area and satellite kitchen. Situated within extensive landscaped gardens, its grounds provide a fully operational coffee shop with an attached children’s adventure playpark to welcome and include children who visit the care home. This provides a multi-generational experience which has now become the social hub of the care home.

The service has continued to be regarded as sector-leading by the Care Inspectorate retaining grades of 6/5 for over a decade. We believe this is testament to the dedication of our service, the commitment of our staff, and the involvement of our residents and their family members who support us to develop and shape a service that reflects the needs, choices, and wishes of the people who use the service. As an actively involved group who are not passive recipients of care, they are able to help us as a provider of a care service to continuously evolve and improve the service we offer.

We believe that we can provide a unique service being hands-on as managers and owners. We feel very privileged to be able to offer care and support to individuals and their family members at one of the most difficult times in their lives. We recognise how important it is to families when they know they can contact one of us at any time, so we are always on hand to help if needed.
