Local, Honest Financial Advice

Kevin Watt is an Independent Mortgage and Protection Advisor with almost four decades of experience within the financial services sector. Specialising in mortgage and protection advice, Kevin is ideally placed to assist first-time buyers, those looking to re-mortgage, buy-to-let and new-build purchases, as well as home owners moving to a new dream home.

Despite the company name, however, advice is not restricted to just mortgages.

“I also advise on Equity Release,” says Kevin, before offering reassurance that this particular option no longer deserves the bad reputation it once did.

“Regulation of Equity Release has really tightened up. I am registered with the Equity Release Council so all products that I recommend have been approved by the Council.”

This means that those applying for Equity Release will always retain ownership of their property. In addition, it comes with a ‘no negative equity guarantee’ which is reassuring for those left behind.

Equity Release is available to home owners aged 55 and over but Kevin will always explore alternative options before recommending this particular method of securing funds.

“I do believe in doing the right thing,” he says. “I believe in honesty and integrity. I’m a human being, not just an advisor.”

Originally from Edinburgh, Kevin now lives in Ayr with this wife, Ally, sons, Harvey and Oliver, and the family Cocker Spaniel, Penny.

“And I absolutely love singing with Ayr Choral Union.”

Immersing himself into the community when he first moved to Ayr twelve years ago was important to Kevin. And being able to offer honest, independent advice to that same community is equally, if not more, important.

“I’ve worked in financial services for 38 years, I’m used to dealing with people with many different needs and aspirations. But if someone comes to me for a mortgage and I am unable to save them time and/or money on any options they have found themselves I would not proceed with offering advice. I believe in doing the right thing for people,” he repeats,” and then ultimately, they’ll come back.”
