Ayrshire chamber of commerce
Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce member, Green Home Systems, celebrated their recent British Chambers Award with a homecoming celebration in their Irvine office attended by dignitaries from North Ayrshire Council and the Ayrshire Chamber.
Last year the energy efficiency specialist was named Scottish regional winner of the Planet Saver category and then went on to face other regional winners from across the UK before claiming the national title in November at the prestigious London Stock Exchange.
The British Chamber Awards are regarded as one of the UK’s most contested and prestigious business award programmes, recognising and promoting the best of British business through a series of regional heats culminating in the UK finals.
Green Home Systems celebrated the win locally in January with staff and guests at their Irvine HQ, where they heard about the company’s work to drive forward the UK’s Net-Zero agenda.
The event was attended by VIPs and officials from North Ayrshire Council and Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, including Provost Anthea Dickson and Councillors Marie Burns and Anthony Gurney, respectively Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Economy, Climate Change & Place. Also in attendance was Wendy McFarland from North Ayrshire Council’s Business Development Team and Ayrshire Chamber was represented by CEO Claire Baird. The event was hosted by Green Home Systems Co-founders Peter Easton and Steven Easton, along with Managing Director, Alastair Macphie, and Commercial Director, Graeme Carruthers.
The British Chamber Awards, now in their 20th year, are one of the showpieces of the business calendar, highlighting the role of firms in delivering growth and prosperity for the UK and local communities. The Planet Saver – Green Business of the Year Award is presented to an organisation that has shown sustainability to be at the heart of their business, and who are fully committed to sustainable best practice and making the world a better and safer place.
The award recognises the emphasis and commitment that Green Home Systems places on sustainability, with its core business strategy being to reduce its customers’ energy use and lift families out of fuel poverty while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Green Home Systems was established in 2014 and operates across Scotland, installing thermal insulation, smart heating systems, and renewable energy technologies. The impact-driven company has completed more than 16,500 energy efficiency projects, lifted more than 7,000 families out of fuel poverty, and abated more than 500,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.
Steven Easton, Co-founder & Chairman at Green Home Systems, said:
“I am delighted that we have been honoured with such a prestigious award. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, with our raison d-etre being to help fuel poor families reduce their energy bills and carbon emissions. This award is great recognition for all our hard working staff and the success that we have achieved in our business over recent years.”
Claire Baird, CEO at Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“I am thrilled to congratulate Green Home Systems on winning this award. As a fast-growing Ayrshire business and local employer, it is fantastic to see their continuing commitment to sustainability being recognised at a national level.”
Sarah Howard, Chair at British Chambers of Commerce said:
“Green Home Systems were a very worthy winner of the Planet Saver award. They have a crystal-clear vision of what they are trying to achieve and how they are going to do it. The statistics, in terms of the impact they are having, speak for themselves. All three of their key aims are crucial to saving the planet.”
