Seven Ayrshire Artists – One Creative Programme

Is it any wonder there are so many talented artists in Ayrshire? Surrounded by rugged coastline, rolling countryside, historic castles and an abundance of flora and fauna, there is endless inspiration right on the doorstep. Add to that the dramatic skies and sensational sunsets, there really is every reason to pick up a paintbrush and recreate the year-round delights that our county so kindly offers.
And where better to admire the beauty of the resulting artwork than at a local exhibition?
The Ayrshire Collective consists of seven Ayrshire artists whose work will be displayed at the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine from 1st November 2024 through till 4th January 2025. The exhibition is free but check the website for opening times (www.thehac.co.uk).
“This is a really exciting time for local artists,” Ayrshire Collective member, Lynn Campbell McGregor, tells me. “We would love for Ayrshire to be known for its talented arts and culture.”
The seven artists involved come from various backgrounds and alternative careers, but are united by their passion for art.
“The special exhibition celebrates the diverse talents of these amazing artists from Ayrshire,” Lynn confirms, “all of whom began their art journeys later in their careers under the mentorship of Gillian Park.
However, this is more than just an opportunity for Gillian to showcase her ‘weans’, this exhibition is an interactive celebration of art, community and creativity.”
Gillian, herself an Ayrshire artist, actively encourages creativity in everyone, from absolute beginners to professionals and can boast having one of her own paintings in HM King Charles’ collection at Dumfries House.
Lynn informs me that alongside the exhibition, each of the artists will be hosting an exciting Creative Programme giving people the opportunity to get involved through workshops, engaging talks, and live demonstrations.
Recognised as a cultural hub, and situated alongside the pretty harbour in Irvine, the Harbour Arts Centre is the ideal location for this not-to-be-missed exhibition.
Lynn concludes: “The unique show brings together a fabulous mix of styles and creative approaches, reflecting the rich variety of contemporary ‘home-grown’ art. We would love you to visit and support these Ayrshire artists. It’s a great opportunity to see and buy original art. We hope to see you there.”
