The Tudor Bar and Grill, located in Ayr town centre, serves up traditional hearty fayre daily from 9am – 8pm (8.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays) with sit-in and take-away menus available. With easy access to the shops, the beach and many of the surrounding workplaces, it’s the perfect place to grab that first coffee of the day, enjoy a quick working lunch, pick up some sandwiches for a stroll along the shore or relax after a day’s shopping.

There’s everything from the classic bacon buttie to Eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu so you’re guaranteed to find some firm favourites to kickstart your day. With the hot filled roll and a hot drink special available for £5, and a selection of The Coo Shed cakes and bakes available for sit-in or take-away, The Tudor can fast become your local early morning stop-in. It’s simple, feel-good food.

Set menus are available Monday to Saturday from noon to 4.30pm offering excellent value for money: two courses cost £15.95 and three courses cost £19.95. Starters include classics such as the chicken liver pate laced with port and served with oatcakes and chutney, or mushrooms baked with cheese, garlic, white wine and cream, served with ciabatta on the side. Fish and chips, steak & link pie, macaroni cheese and lamb’s liver and bacon are some of the mains on the set menu which focuses firmly on big portions of traditional comfort food. For dessert you can choose from apple crumble, chocolate fudge cake, syrup sponge or a simple ice-cream if you’re feeling defeated after the main.

You’ll find a more extensive choice on the A la Carte menu (served from 11.30am) with everything from Cajun chicken pasta to feather blade of Scotch beef served with a brandy peppercorn sauce. In the mood for something lighter? There’s a light bite menu too, served until 4pm, with delicious options such as chicken tempura, chilli rice bowls and haggis, neeps and tatties on offer. Lighter, perhaps, but by no means will you be left feeling hungry.

Many of the A la Carte menu options are available for take-out too with the addition of a wide range of bloomer sandwiches and wraps, toasties, paninis, salad boxes and baked potatoes all made fresh to order with a choice of fulsome fillings including tuna mayo, egg mayo and brie and cranberry to name but a few. It’s fresh wholesome food as you know it, guaranteed to satisfy the hungriest of appetites.
